Ipê Season is Here!

It is Officially Ipê season here in Minas Gerais! For those of you who do not know, the Ipê is a flowering tree that is commonly found and is native throughout Brasil and in different parts of Latin America. They are commonly used in landscaping around the country and as trees lining parks, praças, and roads. Each color of ipê has its own season and unique flair.


These are the three most common colors:


Magenta or Pink/Purple Ipês are the first to bloom, in July, and herald the beginning of the season! (Source)

Yellow Ipês bloom in August, generally, in the Southeast of Brasil (source)

Next time you are around Latin America or especially in Brasil between July and October, keep your eyes peeled! You just might think you stepped into wonderland if you do!
